When activated, our medical grade device handpiece emits a laser beam that penetrates deep into the skin. The laser is made up of controlled pulses of energy, precisely targeting the pigment within the hair and the hair follicle (the root). This energy heats the hair and safely destroys it, without causing damage to the surrounding tissue.

Laser Hair Removal can only be effective on hair that is within the active growth stage (anagen stage). At any one time 90% of hair follicles on within this phase which is why a course of at least 6 or 8 are required to ensure all hairs in the area are effectively treated.

It uses laser light pulses to selectively destroy actively growing hair follicles by targeting the melanin (color) in them. The melanin in the hair follicle absorbs the laser’s light pulse, which travels down to destroy the root of the hair, as well as its surrounding structures.

  • Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?
Clients often say the experience is similar to that of an elastic band being snapped on the skin, feeling uncomfortable rather than painful. Sensitive areas may be more uncomfortable than others. Our Laser Hair Removal devices apply an advanced cooling system throughout the treatment to keep your skin from feeling too warm.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal right for me?
Laser hair removal treatment is safe for all skin types and colours, and all hair colour. However we will perform a full consultation pre-treatment to ensure you are suitable for laser treatment.
  • What areas of the body can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?
Our use of market-leading technology allows us to safely treat all problem areas on the body including the face, arms, the back and chest, intimate areas and legs.
  • How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser emits light energy, which is absorbed by melanin in the hair. If in the right stage of growth, this causes the hair follicle to overheat and damages the bulb, preventing regrowth. The process is called photothermolysis.
  • What is a laser hair removal patch test?
During your complimentary patch test a small area of skin will be treated with the laser. This allows us to adjust our settings for maximum results on your skin, and check for any reactions before we proceed with treatment. If you have been exposed to the sun recently, a patch test allows us to check your skin can be treated.
  • Are there side effects?
Your Reflect Medispa practitioner will go through all treatment information during your consultation. Laser Hair Removal can leave skin feeling temporarily sore and warm, however this will reduce very quickly.
  • Will Laser Hair Removal make my skin sore?
The advanced technology used means treatments will never harm your skin. There may be a little redness, but this will fade within 24 hours.
  • How long does Laser Hair Removal last?
Most of our clients see a permanent result of up to 90% reduction in hair growth. Results are dependent on hair type and colour and permanent hair reduction that lasts can be achieved.

After an initial complimentary consultation and patch test your Reflect Medispa Laser Practitioner will prepare the area you have selected for the treatment. The area will be thoroughly cleansed, shaved if necessary, and any moles or tattoos will be covered. You will then be given protective eyewear for during your treatment.

During your treatment the device handpiece is carefully applied to the skin. When activated, the laser penetrates precisely into the skin to target the hair follicle. Our clients often say the feeling is like an elastic band being snapped on the skin, more uncomfortable rather than painful.

Sometimes the skin can appear red and feel slightly sore directly after treatment. Your reflect Medispa practitioner will apply soothing Aloe Vera Gel to cool the skin, and any discomfort should reduce very quickly.  Results can start to be seen after as little as three sessions, however a full course is recommended
